How do I create my first project?
Walk through the four steps of New Project: type, details, budget and timeline.
Go to Dashboard → Projects → New Project, or click "+ New Project" anywhere you see it in the sidebar. The form has four steps.
Step 1: Project type
Pick what you are renovating: kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, hallway, extension, loft conversion, full house, garage conversion, conservatory, garden, or other. The type controls which tools appear in your project sidebar (e.g. a kitchen project gets the materials price tracker, an extension project gets the planning checker pinned).
Step 2: Details
Give it a name (e.g. "Master bathroom 2026"), a postcode for regional pricing, and pick a quality tier (Essential / Quality / Luxury). Optionally add a description.
Step 3: Budget
Set a low and high budget in pounds. If you came in from the calculator, these are pre-filled with your estimate range. You can change them at any time later.
Step 4: Timeline
Set a desired start date and a desired completion date. Both optional. Useful if you want to compare contractor availability later.
After creating
You land on the project detail page. From there you can:
- Upload quotes received from contractors
- Add photos documenting the existing state and progress
- Start a snag list (defects to track)
- Store documents (plans, contracts, certificates)
- Track warranties for installed items
- Move the project through phases as work progresses
