How do I find a contractor through Havnwright?

Today, Havnwright does not actively match homeowners to contractors. We are not a marketplace like Checkatrade or MyBuilder. We are open about this because expectations matter.

What Havnwright does for you when finding a contractor

• The Scope of Works document lets you send the same brief to every contractor, so their quotes become comparable.
• The quote upload + comparison tools let you store, compare and decide between quotes you have received.
• The calculator gives you a realistic range so you spot wildly off quotes before they cost you.

Where to actually find contractors today

Most homeowners use a combination of:

• Personal recommendations (the highest hit rate by far)
• Local Facebook groups for your area
• Checkatrade / MyBuilder / Rated People for vetted listings with reviews
• Federation of Master Builders (FMB), find-a-builder tool, members are vetted
• TrustMark registered installers for energy-efficiency work
• NICEIC for electricians
• Gas Safe Register for boilers / gas

What is coming

We are building a contractor directory (read-only) so homeowners can browse Havnwright-using contractors in their area. This is different from a marketplace: contractors choose to list, homeowners contact them directly, we do not handle the booking. Target launch later in 2026.

A lead-matching system (homeowner → multiple contractors with a single brief) is on the longer roadmap but is not yet in development. We want to get verification, reviews, and dispute resolution right before turning that on. Done badly, lead matching becomes spam-for-contractors and disappointment-for-homeowners, which is what the existing platforms suffer from.
